Gunmen kidnap senior lecturer in Edo, demand N10 million

A member of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, at the Ambrose Alli University in Ekpoma, Edo State, Professor M. A. Izibili, has been kidnapped.

It was gathered that the senior lecturer was abducted at the weekend in Ubiaja, Esan South East Local Government of the State, alongside five others.

According to reports, the kidnapped Professor, who lectures at the Department of Philosophy, was returning from a wedding ceremony at Uromi when he was ambushed and whisked into a forest.

It was learnt that the kidnappers have earlier made contact with family of the victim, demanding N10 million ransom.

When contacted by DAILY POST, the State’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Kontongs Bello confirmed the incident.

According to the PPRO, the command is working hard to ensure that the lecturer is released unhurt.

Similarly, the Chairman, of the University’s ASUU chapter, Cyril Onogbosele, also confirmed the incident, but could not give details.
