Amotekun nabs eight armed robbery suspects in Osun

Eight suspected armed robbery suspects have been apprehended by the Osun Amotekun corps while trying to carry out operations in Ilesa, Osun State.

According to information made available by Amitolu Shittu, the Field Commander of Amotekun Corps, Osun, the armed robbery suspects were apprehended in a hotel in Modakeke following a tip-off and an intelligence surveillance by personnel of the corps.

Confirming that the suspects were planning to rob a shop in Ilesa town, Shittu, who spoke to journalists on Sunday while parading the eight suspects in Osogbo, revealed that they were specialized in terrorising residents of Osun and neighbouring States.

The Field Commander disclosed that the suspects, who confessed to being engaged in breaking into shops and carting away valuables, have been transferred to the appropriate authorities for discreet investigation and prosecution.

According to him, “The suspects were identified as, Adekunle Joseph, 33 years, from Iragbiji, Uchenna Alom, 42 years from Anambra State but lives in Idi-Iroko Sasa, Ogun State, Monday Nweke, 32 years, from Ebonyi State, resident of Ketu, Lagos State, Sikiru Kareem, 26 years, from Ikire, Osun State and Oyekanmi Maruf, 32 years, from Modakeke, Osun State.

“Others are, Adebayo Tobi, 20 years, from Iwo, Osun State, Ifeanyi Njoku, 32 years, from Ebonyi State and Olarewaju Emmanuel, 23 years, Ipetu-Ijesa, Osun State. They were arrested at Modakeke while trying to carry out an operation at Ilesa.”
