The Role & Responsibilities:
We are looking for an experienced Senior Development Officer to join our Strategic Housing Team, to increase delivery of new Council housing in the district and to act as one of the council’s experts on affordable housing development. If you are a conscientious, enthusiastic person, with a passion for affordable housing, together with excellent organisational and project management skills, we want to hear from you!

Working within the Property Assets department and reporting directly to the Senior Multi-skilled Tradesperson.
The successful applicants will be working within a team who will be delivering response, cyclical and programmed maintenance to Council owned properties, parks and land throughout the Dover District.
Successful applicants will be responsible for assisting the Senior multi-skilled tradesperson in diagnosing faults, ascertaining appropriate remedies, and carrying out repairs for each project.
Use experience and knowledge to suggest best methods of repair and the most suitable materials/equipment to carry out each repair.
This could be for a wide-ranging variety of tasks involving different trades including ground works, and relating to projects of varying size and complexity.
The role may also include some general administration by means of ordering materials, invoicing filing, and inputting information on asset management software.
You may also be required to carry out work to cover Civic Warden duties such as opening and closing of the offices, setting up meeting rooms, moving furniture, and emptying bins and any other reasonable duties required.

The role:
An opportunity has arisen for an Accountancy Assistant working as part of the Housing and Projects team within the Accountancy department. A varied and interesting role giving the right candidate the opportunity to gain knowledge and experience in Local Government Finance.
The role will involve supporting the Accountancy and Homelessness teams in monitoring costs and income associated with temporary accommodation and supporting schemes. It will include reconciliations, setting & monitoring budgets and producing relevant accounting entries for the annual Statement of Accounts. The postholder will provide financial support and advice to budget managers and support the section with admin, system integrity and reconciliation work.
What are we looking for?
We are seeking an individual with good ICT skills, including Excel and Word, and the ability to learn a new financial system. Financial or accounting experience would be beneficial, but the role would be suitable for an individual with the desire and ability to learn quickly and gain a knowledge of local authority financial processes.

Customer Service Advisor- Permanent full time positions (37 hours per week)
We are looking for people with strong communication skills and a commitment to providing a high standard of service to join our busy, friendly team providing advice to customers about a variety of council services. Although there is the potential for dealing with customers face to face, the role is predominantly telephone based.
You would need to be committed to excellent customer service standards and comfortable using a variety of IT packages, although full training will be given.
All of our posts are based on permanent full time contracts and are open to job share and combinations of part-time hours, especially within Customer Services, where cover for the lunch periods would be helpful and may suit applicants with caring responsibilities.
Essential requirements;
The successful candidates must have previous experience in a customer service role and need to demonstrate that they are customer focussed, self motivated and able to work well in a busy environment, both within a team and on their own. Although training will be given, we do need applicants to show they are experienced users of IT applications, specifically MS Office and have a track record of managing conflicting priorities and delivering targets effectively.
Working location
Due to some requirements of the role, we are looking for people who can work from any one of our local offices in Canterbury, Dover and Thanet when required (by prior arrangement). When not required to attend an office we offer flexible arrangements for working either in an office, from home or a combination of both for the right candidate.
