On #HelloYellow we announced our very exciting partnership with M&S, one of Britain’s most iconic brands.

M&S know how much the mental health of young people matters to their customers and colleagues. That’s why they’re joining us for #HelloYellow every year, showing their support for young people’s mental health.

Look out for all things yellow in M&S stores across the country and show your support by donating in stores.

2. Decide on a location

You may need to think about where to hold your event. This could be at your school or workplace, but of course you can wear yellow anywhere! If you’re setting up a #HelloYellow event in your community, you could host it from the comfort of your own home or at the local town hall. We’re sure you’ll find the perfect venue, for the perfect #HelloYellow day.

3. Tell others what you're doing

Whether it’s your friends, family, colleagues or teachers – make sure everyone knows that you will be taking part in #HelloYellow.

If you're taking part as a school, make sure the headteacher or head of department is aware you’re planning a #HelloYellow day. Taking part in #HelloYellow at school is predominantly a dress-down day, so it’s important you have support from your school’s leaders. If they need more information or have any questions, they can email us at helloyellow@youngminds.org.uk.

4. Save the date – October 2024

#HelloYellow takes place on World Mental Health Day in October.

If you’re hosting a #HelloYellow event, get your invites sent out as soon as possible and let people know the dress code – YELLOW!

If this date isn’t suitable, you can always hold your #HelloYellow day on a different date.

5. Create your JustGiving page

Now it's time to set up your fundraising page. We recommend adding information about why you're taking part in #HelloYellow and photos too.

When you’re ready, why not share the page with your colleagues, students, friends and family?

6. Plan your day and send reminders

When you sign up, we'll send you everything you need for the day, from decorations to wellbeing activities – we’ve got you covered.

On the day, the opportunities of how you can take part are endless: from a bake sale to a sweepstake, a raffle to a ‘who has the most yellow outfit’ competition.

If you’re taking part in #HelloYellow either hybrid or remotely, you can plan your activities to be via Teams or Zoom call friendly. If you’re taking part solo, you could challenge yourself to do something outside of your comfort zone.

Whatever you do, we urge you to be creative!

Once you've decided, it’s a good idea to send reminders to let everyone know the plan of action for the day and remind them to get their outfits ready!

How your donations make a difference

The funds raised from #HelloYellow are vital to ensuring our vision to create a world where no young person feels alone with their mental health can be a reality. Here are just a few ways funds raised through #HelloYellow can help.

  • £5

£5 could help us reach 205 young people through #HelloYellow and show them they’re not alone with their mental health.

  • £15

£15 raised could help ensure our Parents Helpline continues to provide advice and support to a parent worried about their child.

  • £20

£20 could allow us to provide mental health resources to over seven schools taking part in #HelloYellow.

  • £30

£30 could help train a young Activist, building their confidence to speak up and influence the decisions that affect the future of young people’s mental health.

  • £67.50

£67.50 could give one parent or carer a call back from one of our independent, experienced Professional Advisors.

  • £219

£219 could train one Parents Helpline Adviser to be on the end of the phone to provide information and support to parents and carers.
