Police and Crime Commissioner election
An election for the Police and Crime Commissioner for the Wiltshire police authority area will take place on Thursday 2 May 2024. The police authority area includes Wiltshire Council and Swindon Borough Council.
Voting in this election
The deadline to register to vote at this election was midnight on Tuesday 16 April 2024 and has now passed.

You do not need to register again if you have already done so. If you recently moved house or changed your name you should complete a new application.

The deadline to register for a free Voter Authority Certificate is 5pm on Wednesday 24 April 2024.
Voting should be accessible to everyone whether you choose to vote at your polling station or in another way. The accessibility options for individual polling stations will be available when poll cards are delivered. The deadline to apply to vote by post at this election was 5pm on Wednesday 17 April and has now passed.

If you need to cancel or change your existing postal or proxy vote you must do so by 5pm on Wednesday 17 April.
Apply to vote by proxy
The deadline to apply to vote by proxy at this election is 5pm on Wednesday 24 April 2024.
A proxy is where you ask someone else to vote at the polling station on your behalf. The person you appoint as your proxy must attend your usual polling station.
If you currently have an existing postal vote it is now too late to apply for a proxy for this election.

New postal vote handling rules
Legislation will come into force for elections for Thursday 2 May which places a limit on the number of postal votes a person can hand in at a polling station. You will not be allowed to hand in more than five postal votes for other electors, plus your own (six in total if one of the postal votes is yours). Anyone handing in postal votes at polling stations or at County Hall, Trowbridge will need to complete a form. Please do not post postal votes in any of the Wiltshire Council letter boxes as it will be rejected.
