Welcome to the Quality in Care (QiC) Diabetes Awards 2024

We are delighted that you are sharing your innovative practice by entering QiC Diabetes 2024 with an opportunity to win one of the prestigious awards.

A Quality in Care award means an initiative has been recognised by the NHS, patients and industry as improving the quality of life for people living with diabetes.

For 2024:

Once again, we are using the online entry portal, accessible via this link: qicdiabetes.awardsplatform.com

This entry system will streamline entering, making the whole process much simpler for you – the entrants. It will enable:

  • Complete control of your entries
  • Changes to be made up to the deadline date (no more having to re-submit via email)
  • Clear instructions on what you need to include in your entry/entries
  • Auto-confirmation that your entries have been received.

There are eight entry categories, three nomination categories, including one exciting new entry category – Improvement in Using Data.

The judging criteria and entry format have been reviewed and updated to clearly reflect the essential criteria that the judges will be looking for: innovation, equality, diversity and variation, results, user feedback, and dissemination and sustainability.

The judges are looking for innovation in diabetes care. It is a fantastic opportunity to learn as well as reward, but think AND state how your entry is different to what others are doing and what your measures of success are. Consideration will also be given to how your adaptions, changes or transformation can be translated into a sustainable, transferable intervention.

Help in preparing your entry

When preparing your entry please ensure you have read the mandatory entry rules listed below:

  • Each criterion has a maximum word count and when planning your entry, you should take note of these
  • Entries are accepted for projects between January 2022 to July 2024, but they must be able to demonstrate the difference they have made. Projects which have no results yet should consider applying in 2025
  • Digital and technology initiatives should be UK or Ireland based (even if they are used, globally)
  • Previous work entered into QiC Diabetes will not be taken into account
  • The only supporting materials required are an image or video that supports your entry. This will be used in AV, on results pages and the results book if you are selected as a finalist
  • Please carefully consider one category only to submit your project to, there will be no category reallocation by the judges
  • If you have an additional project, you can enter this into another category of your choosing.

These entry rules can also be found on the how to enter page online at www.qualityincare.org/diabetes

The QiC Diabetes 2024 Awards presentation will take place as a live event on Thursday 31 October at Sanofi’s UK offices in Reading.

We can’t wait to see you all again this year as a judge, entrant, participant or winner.
