This is a workshop for any staff working with school age children or young people who have difficulties with understanding or using vocabulary.
By attending this workshop, you will:
- Become familiar with how we learn new words.
- Develop your understanding about the importance of vocabulary in everyday life
- Recognise the impact that difficulties in this area can have
- Become familiar with how to support the development of vocabulary skills
Reasons to attend:
- You would like to learn more about how we understand and use vocabulary.
- You have concerns about a child or young person's vocabulary knowledge. The child or young person may find it difficult to get their message across, appear hesitant when talking or use non-specific vocabulary like "thing" and "you know" a lot, struggle to retain or recall new words, and/or not understand text they are reading or spoken information they hear.
This course will be delivered online via Microsoft Teams. When you book, you will receive a confirmation email, and closer to the workshop date, you will receive information about how to access the workshop and the materials you will require for the workshop.
In the unlikely event that a workshop is cancelled, we will endeavour to give as much notice as possible and you will be offered a place on an alternative date.
