Thursday 28th March.
As the club hall was not open last night due to Maundy Thursday a few members decided to venture into Newcastle to visit Newcastle Greyhound Stadium for a night of racing. Having pre booked we gained entry for £10 which included a Pie and Pea supper with a drink included + a race card of the races that were taking place, of which there were 12 in total. Most members added chips to go with there pies for an extra £2.75.
The idea of course was to take images of the greyhounds, and boy let me tell you they can sure motor round that track, I think all of us struggled to get sharp images to start but as the evening went on and we started to change our setting we did in the end manage to get some decent shots.
Some of the members decided to do a little gambling along with the photography, one managed to came away with a £10 profit and one managed to go home having lost the weeks housekeeping money, I knew better and kept my money in my pocket. As we left the stadium myself driving, I managed to scare the other members in the car with me when I thought I was on a one-way street and drove on the wrong side of the road. Well to be fair it was dark, and I did not have a clue where I was going.
Anyway, not to worry we all managed to get home safely and had a great evening even if we did get a little wet from the rain, I’m sure we will be planning another visit in the summer months when the weather is better and the nights lighter.
