Sat 18th November – Dave Sunderland Inter County fixture – Princethorpe College, Rugby. (West Mids – Cheshire – Warks – Staffs – H&Worcs – Surrey – Shrops – Merseyside – Cumbria). CANCELLED!!
Sat 20th January – West Mids Schools XC Champs – Warley Woods.
Sat 16th March – ESAA XC Champs – Pontefract racecourse, West Yorkshire.
2023 – WMSAA XC County Trials – results
WMSAA XC Champs – Sat 20th January 2024 – Warley Woods, Smethwick, B67 5LX
TIMETABLE/distances: 10:00am Year 7 Girls 1900, 10:20am Year 7 Boys 2500m, 10:40am Jun Girls (Yr 8/9) 2500m, 11:00am Jun Boys (Yr 8/9) 3200m, 11:20am Int/Sen Girls (Yr 10/11 + 12/13) * 3200m, 11:40am Int/Sen Boys (Yr 10/11 + 12/13) * 4800m
*The last 2 races will be split at the end and scored separately. Senior runners will be given different coloured race numbers to differentiate themselves from the Inter runners in the race. Course map is below.
Numbers must be securely pinned to the front of each athlete’s vest/t-shirt. Safety-pins will be available on the day although athletes are asked to bring their own pins where possible. Athletes need to register and pick up their number at the tent by the start line, at least 45mins-1hr before their race. Entry fee charge = £2 per athlete payable in cash on the day. Please enter via your area team manager where there is one in place (see “Team manager” tab) or send entries direct to me at the email below (full name/age-group/school).
Presentations: – Medals will be awarded to the 1st 3 in each race. These will handed out as soon as possible after the completion of each race.
Qualification for ESAA XC Champs: – Following this event, the team for the English Schools in Pontefract on 16th March will be selected and all athletes will be informed by email. The top 6 athletes in the Junior/Inter/Senior age-groups will be automatically selected (**there is no Minor age-group at the ESAA) and the remaining 2 spaces allocated on a discretionary basis, based on performances in the previous qualifying race (Himley Hall County Trials) as well as current form (e.g. MCAAA Champs & WMYACCL). In the case of Senior Boys/Girls, performances in races such as WMYACCL and MCAAA Champs and Area XC Champs will also be taken into consideration.
